"Designing web page layouts has a lot to do with ... :

1.   "... using tables, and even tables within tables within tables." - Unless you are using CSS
2.   "... with digital pictures - knowing  how to edit them, and resize them using an image editing software."
3.   "... making web page graphics using a software such as Adobe Photoshop Elements 5."

Objective:  Use Microsoft Word 2007 to create a document with a multicolored table on it.

1.  Go to “Insert” in the tools menu at the top of your screen.

2.  Choose “Insert”, then select “Table.”
3.  In the “Insert Table box” select 3 columns, 3 rows, then click OK.
Alternative way below.

The long narrow table immediately below is what you will get.

4.  “Right click” inside the table and select “Table Properties.”  Choose "Center Alignment" and "None" for  "Text Wrapping.

Then click OK.

5.  Place the cursor directly on one of the table borders.  The cursor will look like this

when it touches a border.  In Front
Page it will look like a double sided arrow.    Drag the sides of the columns and rows so that the table looks like the one above and then like the one in the next part below.

Let me check your progress at this point.

11.  Save the Word document in a folder on your USB Drive.  The folder should be named
        "firstnameunderscorelastname,"
e.g., john_m

12.  Write something about yourself in the red cell.  Change the colors of the cells if you want to.  Add a picture or two and save it
        again in your folder.
